MIDTOWN RACING

How it all started

Midtown Racing was created by founder Larry Phillips one summer evening while cruising over The Newport Pell Bridge. He was captivated by a fleet of M32s racing down Narragansett Bay and felt exhilarated by the lightning speed of the boats coasting along the water. Shortly there-after, he was inspired to assemble and build a locally based organization that would showcase high performance sailing in Newport, Rhode Island. A very special place he calls home.

The Midtown Racing Team has now been campaigning in the professional racing circuit since 2019 - with Larry at the helm. The Midtown Race Club has become the headquarters and cornerstone of Midtown Racing while hosting amateur and professional teams globally. Newport, Rhode Island is well known as the “Sailing Capital Of The World”, and with great pride, Midtown Racing plans to continue it’s legacy for years to come!
